In November I will be getting a total hip replacement on my right side. I have had hip surgeries before but not replacements, I had screws put in on both hips and I had a plate added on my right side. I am just wondering about recovery time and how you felt after extra. Right now I have a lot of pain and I think I am rubbing up against a screw and I have bad arthritis nd bone spurs on my right hip.

I had one 5 yrs ago. Make sure you find out what type and that there are no recalls. I have a metal one and have a lot of pain lately. I had physical therapy for a while after. I was back driving and everything within 6 weeks.

I will and thank you very much. I am in physical therapy right now to get my muscles stronger and ready for the hip replacement. I am getting it done in San Diego with a very good surgeon.

No.  To be honest, I thought they were for the elderly or very overweight.  I am 43 and have never known anyone anywhere in my age range to get one.

It's okay. I am 23 and I was born with hip dysplasia, it was caught late so a lot of damage was done. I had hip surgery in 2007 on my left hip, and I had hip and pelvis surgery in 2009 on my right hip. My right hip didn't turn out right so I need a total hip replacement which I knew was inevitable anyway.

My mom had one 2 years ago, it took her about 6-8 weeks for total recovery, she still had pain but she never had therepy though but accupuncture in the last few weeks has helped a ton! She has arthritis which is why she had to have it done! She is in her early 50's.
