Recently I've been doing some thinking. ID requirements for voting has been a huge topic of discussion.
One of the primary reasons for opposing the requirements is that many low-income people will not vote because they cannot afford to get a state issued ID.
My question to you is this: Do you have a state issued ID (License, ID card)? How did you afford one?
Also, if you wish to answer....
What is your age bracket?
What is your ethnicity?
I realize these questions are not normally questions for "polite" company, which is why I'm opening this in Confessions so people can remain anon.
I am truly curious. One side of the argument says IDs should be required. The other side maintains not everyone can afford an ID and should not be required. Of course, ugly accusations have flown too, such as one side wants undocument immigrants to be able to vote, while one side says their opponents are trying to supress voters. I am just trying to understand if this argument is even worth the time.
Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Please try to keep the actual political debating to a minimum. There is another thread debating whether or not the requirement is justified. Thanks!
