They can roam within reason. My mil drives me insane she's a helicopter.

Firm limits with complete freedom within those limits. Definitely NOT a helicopter parent. I shudder at the thought.

She roams. But being barely 1 and not walking she's always in sight.

As she grows I will encourage indepentent play, and minor risk taking (jungle gym, climbing trees) I want confident kids.
