My DH and DD Got Told Off By The Boy Scouts

We sell kettle corn and shave ice as our main income. Once a month we sell at my hometown grocery store. We had the dates set up for a couple months through November. This Fri-Sun is our weekend we scheduled with the owner.

Well, come to find out, the local Boy Scout troop was selling kettle corn up there this weekend too. They were PISSED, making nasty comments in hearing range about us selling up there.

Today my DH called and said a little BS walked by and told him in a nasty tone "we were selling kettle corn until YOU came". Well, that sucks, but we've been doing this for over a year here. We have a FB page and Twitter account where we post our dates. It wasn't our fault. We couldn't reschedule due to other events coming up. We need the money this weekend to get supplies for those big events.



I told DH he should have said that "we were going to buy from you until you made that comment".

I feel bad, but we scheduled way in advance.

Don't feel bad. Your doing what your doing as a business and for your family. It was scheduled in advance and you had every right to be there. Some manners and respect that homophobic group the boy scouts are teaching and showing the community isn't it.

All I hear are bad things about the boy scouts. Makes me sad. I'm sorry they were such jerks! You would think for a group that advertises working as a group and other things that you work on together they would be more understanding! Was it the kids or parents? Usually you see more problems with the parents

I would have bought from the boy scouts if I was going to buy. You and the BS would both annoy me as I hate people selling stuff or asking for money outside off stores.

We don't approach anyone, or ask anyone to buy from us. We set up, off to the side by Red Box, in our trailer. Those who know and love our kettle corn come to us.

That's awful. When I was a kid being in the boy (or girl) scouts used to be about being an upstanding citizen. I guess some things have changed.
