If you have A cold and you are beastfeeding your baby ...can the baby get sick?

Yes but usually its a mild sickness.

No, colds are passed through germs, not breastmilk. But if u were kissing all over the baby then it would get sick.

If you are sick the best thing you can do is nurse. The baby gets antibodies from your breastmilk. When I wasn't feeling well I'd nurse more. Both my girls either didn't get sick, or the case ended up being really mild and cleared up fast.

Not from your milk. From being close and possibly sharing germs yes. But wash your hands a lot and keep your faces apart. The best part is you are passing antibodies to the baby. So actually you prevent baby from getting sick or if they do happen to get sick then baby already has what's needed to fight off the cold.

Baby won't get sick from breastfeeding/breastmilk. Baby can get sick from being around someone sick.

Breastfeeding helps protect baby even from mom's illness. Her antibodies protect the baby.

I've found that my daughter will be the only one who doesn't get sick. Keep breastfeeding.
