I wouldn't do it.

I would have been devastated if my parents had read my journals. Hell, I'd still be devastated if my husband read my journals. It's a huge violation of privacy.

Nope. I would never. That's a huge violation of trust. In fact, I do not keep one now, since my mom read mine, and I really think I need to...I'll never get over it.

i dont know. it would have to be a really extreme situation. i really value trust, and i really believe that my kids are their own persons, and not just an extension of me. it really would have to be an extreme situation. like so bad that i wouldnt even feel guilty about doing it...

If my radar is pinging, yeah, I will read anything I need to read.

I prefer it when I know everything is ok.  And I do know.  I always know.  I can't figure out why the kids don't know that I am ALWAYS going to know what they are doing, or at least, if they are doing something they should not be doing.  It's a Mom thing.

That is awful. As a parent thinking about it, its still awful. If you don't trust your kid enough to not read their diaires, you have problems.
