How do you use the evaporeted milk that you get every month?

Do you use it to cook? Do you add water and make use it as regular milk?

I have cans of this stuff backed up.

Every now and then Dh will use it in his coffee. I will use it to cook with if we are running low on regulat milk.

Today I mixed a few cans with water in a milk jug. Then I tried it. It didn't taste TOO bad. It tasted like Skim milk but with a funky little after taste. I used chocolate and made some chocolate milke for DS with it. He didn't seem to mind.

Anyways so I was just wondering how you other WIC moms use this stuff?

Edit: For those who are saying you do not get it, do you CHOOSE not to get it or is it not offered to you?

I don't know what it is considered NEEDED. But I get a coucher for  4 - 12 oz cans each month.

Maybe only my state does it?

Its like this in California too.

I dont get evaporated milk. Its milk, eggs, cheese, peanut butter, bread, and veges. I think its formula to age one, then whole milk, and 2% at age two. I live in michigan.

Use it to cook, like in cream sauces and casseroles, use it to bake, using it in coffee is a good idea, and if you really have more than you'll use, donate it to a food pantry!

God, I was not aware that you got evaporated milk on wick. Are they aware that it is flammable and not healthy at all?

We only get 1 small jar a month and go through it pretty fat.

Quoting NicholasMama608:

I don't get evaporated milk either but I do get WAY too much PB.  I think I have almost a full jar open and 3 jars unopened in the cupboard.  I gave DS' father 1 unopened jar last month for DS to have at his house because I had 5 jars at that time.

I've never got wic, I only use that rarely for recipes. I wonder why they give it out.
