A Mothers Worst Nightmare

Posted by   + Show Post
Everyday has been a living hell for me I'm constantly crying and researching and finding nothing but negative things. Everyday i hear everything is going to be alright, I'm seeing doctor after doctor hoping things will get better but no every ultrasound or every appointment there is something else wrong.. Wondering everyday day will my baby live or die i can't take anymore I'm at my wits end waiting for answers. I'm terrified of having a baby that might pass after birth. I am emotionally physically and mentally drained, i just need my baby girl to be healthy and be with me and my son now :'(

They were 34 weeks and 4 days when they were born but the doctor at the hospital I was taken to before they were born (they transferred me because my local hospital did not have a NICU) feels they were much earlier than 34 weeks with their health at birth and size he thinks they may have been about 31 or 32 weeks.

They were good sizes I thought but they needed feeding tubes, iv's, c-pap and yes they had brady's a lot during their time in NICU it was soo scary! They also had juandice and were not holding their body temps it was the longest 3 weeks of my life!

Quoting amberklo:

how premature where they??I have a 28wker and your talkig about bradycaida??Hey read my sons story : ) I just posted

Quoting jackieb2811:

There is ALWAYS that possiblity! Just hold on to hope. Doctors make mistakes every day!! :-)

Quoting Mommy2be517:

I am sorry to hear about your M/C, my son made his baby sister a shirt hopefully all this stuff the doctors are saying is wrong

Quoting jackieb2811:

I wish I had advice on how to do that because 2 year olds are so sensitive but at the same time he may not even remember because he is so little still. My best advice is if you ad a family memeber pass on tell him the baby went to be with them.

My friend also has a son but he is 9 and they told him today that his sister will not becoming home and he took it very hard and I knew he would he is a sensitive boy. Very sweet, very caring and I know he is upset. This was her second child since having him at 15. I know she wasn't ready for it to happen but she certainly was excited and ready for her.

I cano only say sorry because in your position I would be a total mess. I m/c last year but that does not even compare to what it would be like to go so far into a pregnancy and have to deliver a baby that may not make it or only live for a short time.

Quoting Mommy2be517:

That is awesome that they are doing well

I'm really afraid to lose my baby how do you explain to a 2 year old that his sister might pass away everyday my son Ayden ask me when is his sister going to come out of momma tummy to play with him it breaks my heart and every time he ask i fight back tears and tell him she will be here soon

Quoting jackieb2811:

It is life but, it is incredibly unfair. No matter what or how many times you hear "it will be ok" it is still the unbareable feeling and thought of saying good bye to your child. I know the feeling but never have and pray I never have to go through it.

My twins were born premature and had complications and before birth my twins had about a 35% chances of survival because I had such severe pre e. They stopped breathing several times at the hospital in the NICU it was a long 3 weeks but they are healthy 5 year olds today. I will be thinking of you both I wish you the best.

Quoting Mommy2be517:

Thank you & i watched the video it's very heart breaking, i don't believe any living human or animal should have to go threw having to loose a child. I really don't believe that babies kids toddlers have to deal with such illnesses but i guess that's life

Quoting jackieb2811:

I am very sorry for your situation my best friend in the whole world basically like my sister her daughter she is pregnant with now was just diagnosed with Triploidy on Monday. It started out as just Hydrocephalus then Monday when she went to a better hospital for further tests they found so many more things and told her basically the baby will not survive. She is 35 weeks :-( It is very sad I feel like I am about to loose a niece.

There is a video on youtube about a baby born with trisomy 18 and for years now I still cry my heart out watching the video it is called '99 ballons'. It is very sweet but very sad. I pray for a good outcome for you and her.

my son.was a 28wker who was born at 2lbs 10oz due to wpw that causes svts where gis heart rate goes past 300s it was beating so fast and so hard it wore itself down to just 68 and he had sighns of heart failer.So.rushed into e csection no steriod shots.Whem.i had him.they had to do. electric.shock.to his heart to bring his heart rate back.up.After that it went to high so.they shocked it to.bring it back.down.He also.had pda. whole.in his heart brady cadia so.if his jeart rate wasnt to high it was to low.He has. extra.fluid around his brain.Amd.stage 2Rop. 4blood trandfussion nd.he.was anemic.am of corse jondus witch.that was the less worry. He ws also.on.a vemt.for.2wks.c pap.fpr 1 then. oxygen for.the.rest of his.stay.We took.him home at just 4lbs 5oz he stayed in the hosptal 5more xs after and is going in for his 5 sedation on the 28th for a upper GI.He has went trew.2surgeies he alsonhas asthma and. a classic case of autism. We took.bim home at just 4lbs 5oz after an.over log stay in te NICU and he went right back.to PICU a few weeks after we took him.home. Thats his story lol.Have you seen its a preemie thing?

I was read your story that is very sad :-( poor little guy! He pulled through though what a fighter!! My twins spent 2 weeks in the NICU and 1 in PICU I was in the hospital for the first 6 days because they found a blood clot in my left ovary which I just found out is very rare! Anyhow I made the hour drive up there everyday to be with them for the first week after I was released then my insuranced covered my stay at the hospital in the PICU wing with them. March of Dimes offered to cover the cost of me to stay at the Ronald Mcdonald house but after finding out I could stay at the hospital I declined.

What is a thing with premiee's? The brady's?

I wish I could give you a hug. I'll be praying for you. I hope you don't have to go through what I did. I lost my sob after birth. If you need a shoulder, I'm here.

I do not know if this helps but I have a friend a close friend, we went to middle school together and she got pregnant at the same time as me. We birthed 6 days apart!
Well she got terrible news her how pregnancy, she was told the baby would not have a gender, had something wrong with her heart, ( I forget what it is called but a whole in her heart and it will either heal through years or kill her) and she had a good chance of being down syndrome. (I forget why but they couldn't tell her for sure about the DS but treated her pregnancy as if
she did.)
Well no she has a beautiful, healthy baby girl! There are no gender problems, she is a baby girl! Her hearts just fine after being in NICU for about a week and no down syndrome!
Are babes are both 8 months and hers is hitting mine stones before mine and I had a normal, healthy pregnancy
Listen you can not be sure of anything until your baby is born and you stressing, crying and having anxiety over the situation is giving the same feeling to your little baby. I know it's hard but try to keep yourself physically calm to keep your little baby from stressing.
I'm going to pray for you, I hope you feel better love!

For your friend's 9 year olf and op if things do not turn out well, my I recommend a book? It's called "We were suppost to have a baby but we got an angel instead." After I gave birth to my son, a nurse at the hospital gave me this book to help explain to my 20 month old dd that there would be no baby. It helped. It explained that mommy is sad fir a long time and thay daddy is sad for a long time. Even talks about grandparents.
