In a couple of weeks I have an appointment to have the paragard put in. I'm not quite sure what to expect. I don't really like the idea of a foreign object hanging out in my uterus but dh doesn't want me tying my tubes because he is in this fantasy land that I will want more kids later on.

I met my deductible this year so I have until the end of the year to get something done since it will be 100% paid for. I don't want to take the pill anymore, it screws with my periods (I'm on the mini pill, I can't have estrogen), makes me bloated, it doesn't help my acne, I forget to take it, and even if I did take it I don't remember if I did most of the time.

Does anyone know much about the paragard?

Also, do any of you ladies know much about tubal ligation through the cervix? How long does it take to heal, how long is the hospital stay, and do they put you under anesthesia for it?

I have thought about just not having sex anymore so I can avoid any of these lol, I am trying to avoid surgery and pain in general...but that's not realistic... =\

As of right now we use condoms and I track my ovulating and we don't have sex when I am. It works really good. I can't take hormonal birth control and I don't want an iud.

It causes hormone imbalances.

I had 10lbs with depo that I couldn't shake. Of course I got 20lbs thanks to essure so that sucks.

I'm too sensitive. They cause depression. Now I have essure and I've been sick for a year.
They made me gain weight. That's never good. I gained 10lbs while still eating healthy and exercising, so I quit the pills.

how did essure make you gain weight if it's not hormonal?

My midwife suggested just replacing my iud again. By then I shoukd be menapause age :/ lol

Quoting Devious333:

Oh ok. Dh doesn't want me doing essure, either, so maybe in the future, after the IUD has to be taken out in 10 years, he'll give in lol..

Quoting svolkov:

No they dont numb u...they just slightly open the cervix and like 2 seconds later its done . Painful but super quick.

Quoting Devious333:

Did they numb you when they inserted it and is it painful? Any more or less than a pap?

Quoting svolkov:

I cant do hormones either. Paraguard was perfect for me

Quoting Devious333:

But my issue is that it has hormones. I really need to get rid of any option that involves them because they screw with my periods, acne, migraines, etc.

Quoting MomLuv10:

It is an implant. It goes in your arm. I had no problem with it and loved it.

Quoting Devious333:

That's probably like the mirena, just implanted in your arm. I don't want hormones :\

Quoting MomLuv10:

I had the IMPLONAN and I LOVE it! Me and my husband are TTC now but after this next baby I am either going to get my tubes tied or the IMPLONAN again.
