Do you let your lil one watch scary movies?

I do my 3yr old loves them! She will get mad if you get in the way when she's all into them. At what age do you let them watch scary movies?

No.  My 3.5 year old wanted to watch Spiderman and she hasn't seen anything like that before, but she said it was too scary so we turned it off.

My daughter is also three and loves them. She loves the hauntings the most.

Agree. I allow my children to watch "monster horror" if they choose, but I draw the line at more realistic type horror such as slasher films. A zombie or a swamp monster is obviously fiction and children can easily identify it as such, but when it comes to torture porn type stuff.... there is no way they can separate that from reality. I also think that every child is different. I wouldn't allow my oldest to watch scary movies (nor would she want to) because she is a fearful child. My 7 year old, on the other hand, loves zombies and monsters and my nearly 5 year old is always asking to watch zombie movies as well. She told me that she likes to watch scary movies because they help her not be scared. Go figure. :)

We've always watched them with our kids around. If they learn early that it's all just pretend, it doesn't affect them in a negative way. My parents did the same with me. I never had a single nightmare, and am braver in "scary" situations because of it. My 3 year old and 2 year old love zombies. It's pretty cute.

I used to let my children watch all sorts of slashers and what-not. My daughters became grown women who live in terror of zombies. Hubs is more protective of Step-Diva. She is afraid of Disney movies...to the point that at eight years old, she cannot watch the Frog Princess all the way through without hiding her face, crying, and turning it off.

Two extremes.

Kids seem to go wild for zombies don't they? We don't watch the slasher, serial killer type stuff around the kids either. Only the obvious "monster" stuff like zombies and aliens. We had to take our 3 year old to the ER last night with a really high fever, and she told the doctor she was a zombie princess. I got a strange look over that one.

I dont even let them watch Disney movies because they are pretty scary

Bambi--the Mom is shot and killed

Sleeping Beauty--evil witch that basically kills her, turns into a dragon

Little Mermaid--evil octopus lady who tries to kill them

Cinderella--mean stepsisters that physically assault her, evil stepmother locking her away with no food and water

I mean really, I never noticed it before but violent!
