roaches.....german roaches...... :(

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

my house and car has become infested with german roaches. Those are the small brown and beige ones that scatter when the lights are turned on and leave dander behind...they are so freakin gross. I hate them. And they have infested my house and car. I have yet to see like 30 of them; I see no more than 4 at a time. But still! My house and car are relatively clean. I clean everyday. I have poured a sugar/borax mix in the cracks of the kitchen. DH found a small hole at the bottom of my car and this summer ants got in it. He sprayed my car good with some chemicals which rid the ants. I guess it didnt affect the roaches. Yesterday at work, I opened my wallet and 2 freakin roaches jumped out. I am so grossed out. Makes me feel like we are filthy! How do I get RID OF THEEEEEEEEEEM

Oh and I forgot to add, there is something you can get at walmart..It used to be called Roach Caulk, but they chaged the name, I think it is called Roach Gel now...but it is in a caulk gun like tube.

You put in along the backs of your counters, cracks where you see roaches...It workds really well too

(my mom once got infested and we FINALLY got rid of them with bombs and roack caulk)

This works. Seriously... Bomb your house and car at the same time.. Once you can go back in clean all the dead ones up, check you weather stripping on doors and windows (any cracks fix, even the huge ones can get in some wicked small cracks). Check the pipes going into your house, any gaps by the toilet piping, sink pipes.. Etc - seal!!! Check the plates behind your faucet nobs... If they are loose glue them down. Any and all cracks you see seal up. Bomb again to kill the ones that came in while you did that. We had wicked roaches in tx on fort hood when dh was army. They came and sprayed several times. That didn't work, only patching every crack and hole did. Also make sure you keep all your drains sealed. We only saw two after we did that in a whole year and trust me I looked hard. I have a huge phobia of them. They scare the shit out of me lol.

We had the problem at our old apartment. The issue though was we would have pest control come out but unless the whole building sprayed it wasn't doing any good. The bugs were just going next door to hide and starting to become immune to the spray.

Now we have moved and some of the bugs moved with us.

Our bug guy came out and said that we should be able to spray once to kill all the adults and another time with a spray that won't let eggs mature.

Quoting Anonymous:

They are extremely difficult to get rid of. They live in the walls. You will probably need to bomb the house and your car. You definately need an exterminator!

Eta: I had an apt that was infested before we moved in. Pest control said for every 1 you see, there are about 100 in the walls. Pest control wasn't able to get rid of them. We moved at the end of our lease.
