Someone is using my identity and I don't know how to fix it

I went to the credit union the other day, and found out someone had used my social security number to start an account. They flagged the account because I had the original card and checked my credit and it's ok. Now, when my new job was running my background check they had to postpone my start date because someone used my social to get a job somewhere else. I have NO idea how to fix this. Who do I call? What do I do?

EDIT: I called the police and filed a report, they said they will do as much as they can but since they don't know where the job was obtained they can't do much. I called the credit report companies and put a fraud alert on my number. The police think it was an illegal alien, because they don't mess with your credit the just usually open bank accounts and get jobs with it. Hopefully we'll find the jerk and she can be deported, or thrown in jail. Thanks for your help ladies :)

Go to the police station and file a report when that happened to me they simply ran my ss and found out where they worked and went and arrested them. Good luck I know it freaking sucks!
