 Social Security states that  If he or she receives benefits as an adult disabled since childhood, the benefits generally end if he or she gets married.

If you and your spouse are on SSI, and get married  the benefit you receive will change from an individual rate to a couple rate.

The loss of this income, due to a marriage is incomprehensible.
This clearly contradicts the simple right of the pursuit of happiness, and a legal right most other citizens of the United States are afforded.

With a marriage, the loss of income may not only severely affect the disabled party, but the loss of health insurance is simply devastating.

Please afford the disabled the same right as other citizens have, getting married does not cause a disability to end.

Allow Disabled to Marry without Penalty
The Fourteenth (14) Amendment states:
No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities states:
1. States Parties shall take effective and appropriate measures to eliminate discrimination against persons with disabilities in all matters relating to marriage, family, parenthood and relationships, on an equal basis with others, so as to ensure that:

The right of all persons with disabilities who are of marriageable age to marry and to found a family on the basis of free and full consent of the intending spouses is recognized;
The rights of persons with disabilities to decide freely and responsibly on the number and spacing of their children and to have access to age-appropriate information, reproductive and family planning education are recognized, and the means necessary to enable them to exercise these rights are provided;
Persons with disabilities, including children, retain their fertility on an equal basis with others.

However Social Security states in regards to Disabled Adult Child (DAC) If he or she receives benefits as an adult disabled since childhood, the benefits generally end if he or she gets married. However, some marriages (for example, to another adult disabled child) are considered protected.

SSI: If you get married, your spouse's income and resources may affect your eligibility.

If you and your spouse are on SSI, the benefit you receive will change from an individual rate to a couple rate.

The loss of this income, due to a marriage is incomprehensible. Two people, one disabled receiving benefits and one working and not disabled may cohabitate indefinitely, without fear of loss of benefits, but cannot get married.
This clearly contradicts the simple right of the pursuit of happiness, and a legal right most other citizens of the United States are afforded.

With a marriage, the loss of income may not only severely affect the disabled party, but the loss of health insurance is simply devestating. Pre-existing conditions of a disabled person would exclude them from any private plan on the market and if a disabled person were to be accepted, the costs of premiums, deductibles and co-payments would be astronomical.

Please afford the disabled the same right as other citizens have, getting married does not cause a disability to end.
