I'm laying in bed sound a sleep when my freaking smoke detector goes off and that sucker is freaking LOUD! I litterally jumped OUT of the bed.. ran to the door and touched it to see if it was hot.. nothing.. swung it open.. nothing again. I run to the kitchen... bathroom... living room... nothing. there is no fire. I go into my seven yr olds room and he's already got his sneakers on and a blanket ( always told him if he hears the alarm to grab shoes and a blanket.) I tell him everything is ok and to lay back down. I reset the alarm... I have no idea why the hell it went off but shit it scared the crap out of me. Now my one yr old is standing up in the crib and I keep laying him down and laying him down.. but i think it scared him to death.
I would check the batteries just in case. Glad it was a false alarm
Batteries.
I had a hard wired one once that did that everytime I turned on the oven. Nothing was in it.. it just went off. I had to rip it out.
hmmmmm i just changed the ones in the smoke and carbon detector not that long ago.. but its an idea.

Yea, ours goes off when it's time for new batteries. But it will also go off if the heater or the oven heat the house up too much.
