I attended Church for the first time in several years this last Sunday.
It was a Baptist Church and I went only because my grandfather begged me to go just to try it out and he wanted all of his friends to meet me, so I did.
As I was sitting there, I hear the Pastor and he was kind of funny considering his career.
Everything was fine, until we were listening to the story of Nicademous (sp?) and the pastor began telling a story:
Essentially what he said was that while he was providing a funeral service, he told the people who were there that their loved one didn't go to Heaven because he wouldn't accept Jesus Christ as his savior. Instead, he insisted that the deceased man had gone to Hell.
He told the person's family this, and said they were outraged, but he insisted he did the right thing. The congregation all began saying "amen" and I just couldn't stay.
I believe in reincarnation. I am a good person because I want to be, not because I am afraid to rot in Hell. I don't even think I believe in Hell.
I don't know what I believe, but DAMN I can't BELIEVE that pastor!!
If you believe that, that's fine, but it's just not for me!
I just can't justify saying that to a room full of mourning family members!
