Your 10 month old is not gifted!

It seems to me that many parents try to label their kids gifted when in fact they are not. I am not referring to kids who have tested gifted. I am talking about those who feel their 9 month old is gifted because they look alert. Seems ridiculous to me and like setting themselves up for disappointment.

That does not mean she is gifted.

That is her reaching a milestone early though.

Lol...every new parent thinks their little darling is gifted. Those of us who truly have gifted children (tested and proven), tend to stay quiet about it because it makes us unpopular.

Every child is special. Why tell a parent differently?

yes, kids learn that very early on as well. don't let people know you are too smart or they will make fun of you.

Parents need to be okay with who their child is. To me it is setting up your child for a lot of pressure by trying to label them gifted so young.

I think this can be true for some as well but I find more often than not it is the gifted label parents try to give their kids.
