Seriously! I live like 3 minutes from the Dollar Store. I go in there quite a bit, because it's way closer than Wal-Mart, K-mart, Target, ect.
EVERY effin time I go in there the cashier asks me 1). Do you want to donate a dollar to the Toys for Tots program? AND 2). Would you like to donate your change to literacy?
I don't mind being asked, but DO NOT look at me as if I'm the biggest bitch in the world, when I tell you "No." I swear, these cashiers act as if everyone has money to just throw around. The other day, there was a guy in front of me who told them he didn't want to donate because he had already donated to them earlier that day. When he left the store, the cashier turned to the other cashier and told her what the man had said. The other cashier rolled her eyes and said "I don't remember seeing him come in today."
I just wanted to say "Even if he hadn't came in earlier today, it's none of your damn business! If he doesn't want to donate, he doesn't have to!" I can only imagine the shit they say about me when I leave the store. I used to donate everytime I went in there, only because I would feel guilty if I didn't. I don't anymore though, not after seeing their attitudes toward the people who don't donate. And, honestly, I shouldn't have ever donated because I don't have any extra money to help other people out. MY OWN KIDS won't be having much of a Christas the year. The very little money that we do have, we're going to buy them clothes, that they HAVE to have....they're not getting any toys.
So, PLEASE, if you work at a store like this that asks for donations, don't get an attiude when someone tells you no. You have no idea what they're going through.
