Nintendo 3DS for a 4 year old.....?

My SO wants to get our four year old son a Nintendo 3ds. I'm not sure I want him to have a video game system so young. We have a wii and an Xbox that he's allowed to play on as well as games on our iPhone and iPad. But I don't know if he should get a DS. What do you ladies think?

A game cube would be better or an older model ds, otherwise it will break

Read up on 3d images in a child that young, I may be mistaken but i believe under age 6 it isn't good for their eyes.

There are lots of kid friendly games out there.  I think that young I'd start with an older version.

The 3d can be turned off. I read the same thing about 3d bad for your eyes at a young age. My niece has one so I know it can be turned off.

perfect dont let him/loose the games or all hell will break loose. That is a great responsibility teacher.

DS, sure! 3D is bad for kiddos under 7.
My son will be 4 on Christmas, and is getting a DSi. Just like the lite, but with a camera :)

But what's the point of spending the extra on the 3ds if he can't even use it...
