What's the worst thing that happened to you on a Thanksgiving Day?

I don't want to bring anyone down. I'm thinking it was bad at the time but now you laugh about it.

For me I was 27 years old and my husband announced our engagement. After filling my plate with all the yummy goodies from the buffet I start heading to the dining room where the table was set beautifully with the best crystal and china...only to be told by my MIL to be "oh you guys sit in the kitchen".

Are you kidding me?!?!?! I've just announced the most important decision of my adult life just to be exiled to the children's table?!?!? WTF. I have never been so insulted in my life.

I swear I sat there staring at my plate fighting with myself whether or not to leave. I knew that if I left that would set the pace for my future relationship with his family so I stayed.

23 years later MIL is at my house for thanksgiving. Any revenge ideas LOL?

I went to my grandmas house and as I was turning off the highway onto the road I saw my cat on the side of the road. Someone hit and killed him.

Oh, I think "we decided grandma should supervise the kids table this year" would be fun....if you have a kids table.
We had one at our family dinners, but out was in the same room, right next to the adults. I don't remember how long I sat there, but it was a smaller folding table so only so many kids fit and the oldest moved over when a little one was big enough to feed themselves.

Last Year :(

We were visiting my grandparents 45 min from home (they are in their late 80s) and we got a call that my husband's grandma had a stroke at his mom's house as she was preparing their meal (with a lot of extended family there).  Two days later she passed away.  It'll be a tear & memory filled Thanksgiving this year.  She was an amazing woman...

Well this is the first major holiday since my husband and I separated, I am at his aunts house right now, and I got into my very first car accident last night.
