fiance over compensating..

so...in the year my fiance and i have been together, and even before then, hes been talking that hes not a christmas person, and doesnt care about it. well.....this year, hes been struck with the spirit...well, i have 3 girls, and they have him wrapped around their fingers...*but yes, we parent together, he is firm when needed*. ANYWHO...so hes always said he didnt care. but HE DRUG ME to black friday last night. to shop for the girls. came home, and he says he doesnt wrap gifts. psshhh. he wrapped almost all of them, and took his time making them perfect. the tree today?? HA. "he wants more lights" and straightened the limbs atleast 4 times. he said he thinks we need to get the kids more. they have plenty. he said he had bad christmases as a kid, and i think hes trying to over compensate....but how can i make him understand that hes already doing great, and they have plenty? im so thankful for him, but i need him to understand that giving them the world isnt nessessary??
