The lorax offended me

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
In the opening music scene, they sang a verse that says " we thank The Lord for all we've got". I'm not Christian so I turned the movie off immediately. I don't want that crap crammed down my children's throats. Why can't they just leave that out of it???

Yes, they should build an entire religious rating system because one person is offended by one word in one movie.  That sounds totally logical.

You know what I do when there's something in a movie that I didn't expect?  I turn it off.  That's it.  I just turn it off.  It's so super easy.

Quoting Anonymous:

There should be! Just like parental ratings!

I mean I'm all for each religion having their owned themed movie, but they should warn you

How would they do that?  "Just so you know, there's a song at the beginning that mentions 'Lord'.  Watchers beware!!"  It's not like there's a religious rating on movies.

"Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification"  Romans 14:19

it's just a movie that makes you feel guilty about not being eco friendly. I didn't like it honestly. kids could have cared less. liked the original movie better.

They get gifts, but not in a " Jesus hallelujah" way. It's their reward for being good. Easter is a time for candy and eggs!

Quoting P.N._Guin:

I'm sure I wouldn't know. Maybe because it really isn't a big deal at all, and tolerance for all religions should make a single verse a nonissue. Eh.

I'm curious though, so ill ask again. Do you celebrate Christmas? Easter?

Quoting Anonymous:

Then why did they sing that verse? They could have said " we are thankful for all we've got"

Quoting P.N._Guin:

The Lorax isn't really a religious movie.... At all.

I don't see how.  I'm atheist and I never pushed it onto my daughter.  She's a believer and it's not the end of the world.  I support her curiosity to look into other faiths, which she has.

Quoting Anonymous:

Yeah..it would.

Quoting embersparkle:

Yeah because that would be such a tradegy if your children believed in God.
