How much do you tip hotel maids when you stay somewhere?

If I stay for one night, nothing, unless I needed something extra and they helped me with it. Multiple nights, I try to see if the same housekeeper can take care of my room while I'm out, then I'll tip her at least $10 depending on how long I'm there.

about $1-2 per day.

I don't, but then again, I always request not to have cleaning service. I don't trust people I don't know in my room. I've heard too many stories of peoples belongings disappearing.
