Birthing chair....

My older sister was born in 83.  My mom gave birth to her in a birthing chair. Supposedly shortly after this the chair was discontinued.

I think my sister fell on her head when she came out or something. She was the only trouble maker out of us 4 girls and she lacks common sense. The rest of uscame out moms vag in a bed.

There is no real reason to this. I just read something that reminded me of it lol

I thought birthing chairs were still used by some midwives.

quite possibly dark age equipment. My mom liked birthing centers with midwives. Not bashing midwives but I got issues and cant use them. IDK if my sis was born in a hospital or not. I was born in a birthing center

A chair with just enough edging for your utt to sit while the bottom is just a hole. I guess they tied to use gravity to their advantage

I read a book about the middle ages, and a Duchess delivered in a birthing chair. That's the only time I've heard of them. I did wonder why they weren't still used though. It kind of makes sense that a baby could be pushed out easier that way. I was born in 1981, lol. So I wasn't referring to the year your sister was born.

I think so as well.

I gave birth to one baby in a hospital bed, and one while squatting. Squatting was so much easier.
