I teach prek, she's behind. Why isn't she in school?

Quoting Anonymous:

No, she isn't. She knew them a whole back but she has forgotten them a little. Calm the fuck down.

Quoting Anonymous:

How can a 4 year old not know this? Seriously your child is very far behind.

get those foam letters for the bath tub. DS absolutley LOVED watching phonics videos on you tube. Thats pretty much how he learned. He knew his abcs and could recognize all the letters before he was 2 1/2.

Songs, flash cards, etc.

Honestly, if your 4 year old doesn't know his or her ABC's yet he is already behind. :(

No, she isn't. She isn't in school because she doesn't need to be right now. She doesn't turn four until December 3rd. I don't give a shit what you teach.

YEP. You would think as a teacher that would dawn on her.

You are the one asking for advice. Don't get defensive..it just seems your child is behind. I get all children are different but every child I personally know, knew their ABC'S before 4.

Why does it matter?

My DD knew her ABC's at 2. Why has it taken a 4 year old this long?

There's no age cut off for pre-k here. I guess every state is different. My son started at 3, but it's only 2 hours a day.

Yeah, I asked for advice, not " is my child behind" she knew them before, but she has been forgetting them. She goes back and forth between me and her dad so she loses a little bit along the way.
