I just realized how often I hear people 'praise' fathers (especially single fathers, or fathers who are married, but not to his child's mother) for 'taking care of his kids' by paying child support or being involved. It is usually said with a hint of "don't have such high expectations, JUST be happy he takes care of his kids"....
Yet, how often do we say that about mothers? "Just be happy she takes care of her kids!"
