What age do you think is ok to let your child stay home alone?

my parents used to leave me alone all the time, when i was like 12 i think, they would be gone all day on the weekends, all i did was watch tv. I knew how to cook, and if i needed anythng i could have called someone, and if really needed something and couldnt get ahold of anyone i could have gone to the neigbors. I think if my kids are mature eough at that age i will will them home alone, for an hour or two.

Depends on the child's maturity level. My son is 8 and nowhere near ready!

That's the age for babysitting, not staying home alone.
