My Husband works out of town, a lot. I have seen him only once this year for 5 days and then for 10 mins. He is coming home Christmas, for 5 days, and that will be it until the 4th of July. No, he is not in the military, but I was raised that way, in the Millitary. Maybe that's why I have done it so long.

My husband travels for his work and sometimes i go three months without seeing him. It takes alot getting used to it. He recently decided not to travel anymore. I am excited about that. :)

I had to do it when my DH had to go to another state for work when CA job market went to shit. It was for more than a year and he was only able to visit a couple of times during that time. Before that he was in the military and deployed a lot We now all live together in the state he works. Lately, we have been talking about him becoming a civilian contractor for the government. He would go over seas and work for 6 months to a year (on the military base) the pay is 140k a year tax free. It's not ideal, but it could really help our family financially!
