Well I can swim and learned at the age of 6. It seems so weird to me that others cant swim.
I understand some are scared and never had the opportunity but why haven't you been interested in trying since you've been an adult? Could save your life one day!

Absolutely. I find it weird when people can't, adults anyway.

Yes I can swim.
I didn't learn how to ride a bike until I was 16 though.

I hit yay but I meant nay. I can barely swim. Enough to pass as swimming I guess but not really. I mean I passed swimming in school but I'd never survive any real body of water. That's okay, I don't go to the beach or pool anyway. So, short of a major flood, I'm in no danger ;)

Some people are born, raised, and still live in the city. Save visiting a public pool the opportunity to swim doesn't crop up much.

I can swim and honestly I learned in what you'd think would be a traumatic experience. I was maybe 5 or 6 years old and was being lazy about it, my dad picked me up and tossed me into the deep end and yelled sink or swim...I swam. One of my cousins learned the same way. Luckily I didn't have to go to such extremes with my kids. They just naturally love the water and took to swimming like a fish. Though like many others I know they learned how to swim under the water before getting the hang of keeping their heads above the water.

Yep!! I took swimming lessons from age 4-12 and got Red Cross certified to be a lifeguard (although I never used it). I also grew up going to the lake and river constantly. I love swimming!! My oldest is 8 and knows how to swim. My daughter is 5 and is just getting pretty good at it this year. My youngest is 3 and loves the water, but can't swim independently...yet :-)
