Took the boy child shopping. his name is Frederick. But, because dad is a nerd, he is often called Frodo.

well, this lady just about snapped her own neck whipping around to give me the stare down when DH said "come on Frodo! let's go!" And my son says "k daddy"

boy oh boy, that was a laugh I needed!

My dd's nickname is Rhonda. (her real name is nowhere near that) I like to call her Rhonda in public just because it is such a funny thing to call your dd.

we got bitched at by a cashier at walmart because DH said "come here, monkey". that's our DD. she will flat out tell you her name isn't her name, that it's monkey and that she's "monkey" because she climbs like one and loves monkeys. cashier got all pissy and tried to make it a racist thing. i got pissy because we shouldn't have to defend our kid's nickname to anyone.

I hate it when people do that. It has gotten ridiculous, IMO.
