My understanding has always been that ADHD had a hyperactive component that ADD does not. However, the literature I just got from the pedi stated that ADD is now being classified as ADHD. Basically ADHD is being used as an umbrella term for all attention disorders.

It's all considered ADHD now. They just make different distinctions under the scope of ADHD. For instance my oldest would have been diagnosed as ADD a few years ago. He is diagnosed as innatentive type ADHD.

I was surrounded by worried parents of children with ADD/ADHD in my family and at work and there was so much confusion, that I decided to research and write an Ebook on the condition. I really hope it helps you, go to www.supportforchildren.com

Add- can't pay attention or concentrate
ADHD- can't pay attention or concentrate while running around in circles, jumping on the couch, and moving non stop
