What's the deal about preteens & teens (12 & up) drinking coffee? I mean, my parents never told us we couldn't and I've been drinking it since I was 10, it never hurt me or my siblings.

I have seen parents give their Kids , pepi, coke, mountain dew etc. And that's ok. Mountain Dew has a ton of caffeine in it, so why is that ok, but coffee is so wrong. At least the coffee has some health benefits.

And for kids who have ADHD or other issures it can be a help. I have bad allergies and my brother has asthma. When we were kids we'd drink coffee to help with the symptoms.

That's my question. Why do you think some parents give kids other drinks with sugar, corn syrup and caffeine, such as Mountain Dew, etc, But Coffee is a big no no ?

yep, its no worse than soda. I would give it to my son for his ADHD but he doesn't like the taste of coffee.

My two year old always gets a sip of mine when I have it. Of course that's all he gets because it makes him hyper as shit, but when he's older, he'll be able to drink it if he wants.

My daughter doesn't like soda and prefers water or milk. She does occasionally have a coffee coolatta from Dunkin donuts but that's all

Maybe because it's labeled an "adult drink". Coffee has like 8 times the amount of caffeine in one cup than one can of pepsi (not sure about mountain dew). Neither are good for your kids, why do either? My kids have never had mountain dew, i don't mind sips of pepsi or coffee but my kids don’t sit down and have a full cup of either. I'm not a perfect mom and don’t claim to be, my kids love sweet tea and get eat as a treat when we are out to eat.

My 2 youngest thankfully never have really been thrilled with soda.  They will have 7 up or ginger ale every so often  but not on a regular basis.  They drink the occassional cup of coffee when they are sick and miserable.  I see nothing wrong with drinking coffee...

My 3 year old has never had coffee or soda. I have been drinking coffee on a daily basis since I was 8, but I decided to raise my son with a healthier lifestyle.

My kids drink coffee every morning. My parents bought them a coffee maker, and my son (14) gets it all ready the night before, and has the timer set for it to be done when they wake up. I don't see how one cup of coffee is going to hurt them, especially seeing how some of these other teens guzzle soda like its water.

What if it's decaf? ? I have more of an issue with soda because of the sugar content than coffee, but than again I do NOT want my child to have a caffeine addiction. So I guess If they have to drink coffee, please let it be decaf!

I don't care what others give their kids. My ds is 2 and we give him a sip of our coffee he likes is so we let him.
