When they hear something happend in their town or community? Anything can happen anywhere to anyone. That's how life is and it's not going to change. I dont care how "small" a town is i woukd still lock my doors and my car.

This is about murder, rape, robbery and so on

This is just a question no arguing or bashing please

because people always believe that those things will never happen to them so when it hits close to home it freaks them out because for a brief moment they realize that it could easily happen to them

I do the same and live in a small town as well. I try my best to be as safe as possible.

I would be really shocked to hear about a murder. Hell I was when I did a few years ago. There is on average 1 murder a year. Our most wanted list are people who have not paid child support.

Generally people think of home as safe.  When something horrible happens in their town, it makes everyone question their own safety.

Some kid shot and killed himself at the locoal community college. He was barely 18 years old. Its very sad.

You don't expect anything bad to happen so close to you. You know it happens, but when it happens so close, it IS shocking.
