If a couple had a surrogate mother, who do you throw a baby shower for *update*

Posted by   + Show Post

the couple who's going to have the baby or the surrogate who carries the baby for 9 months?

Doesn't the surrogate deserve something?

**wow! this is the 3rd post of mine in 6 months that has been featured on the the front page of cafemom.

=D

**why do you ladies assume that the surrogate gets paid? that's not always true.

I never got paid when I was a surrogate. Honestly, I got a thank you card and they took me out to a restaurant because that's the only thing they could afford.

The surrogate, while very important, isn't who a shower is for....its for the CHILD and the "parents"

Though a nice bath set or spa day would be a very nice gesture form the parents to be

The shower isnt really for either but for the baby, IMO anyway. But to answer your question the one who will be taking care of the baby. What would somebody with no baby do with cases of diapers and baby clothes?

Why would the surrogate get the shower, that makes no sense. After birth the surrogate isnt going to need baby stuff!

I answered this in another post.  The couple and if the surrogate wants it, a book filled with momentos. The couple pays her well for her services.  The shower is for baby gifts for the parents.

Quoting Matriarch87:

Well of course the shower would be for the parents...the surrogate is most likely ver y well compensated.

The should have a shower after the baby is born and invite the surrogate so people can give her gifts too!
