yesterday both my kids had surgery my DS went first i was properly warned about what it would look like but i cant get the images of him out of my head it looked like they killed him....it was soo scary but i had to act like it was fine so i could go back with DD...none of the other parents went back with their kids.....

Is it normal to not be with your kids when they are put to sleep? Have you seen your child put to sleep? Was it traumatic for you? DD wasnt' as bad because she was yelling at them and her eyes were closed.....DS is 2 his whole body was twisting and fighting the affects of the medicine and his eyes were rolling in the back of his head his head was going back and forth so hard then he just went completely limp...all normal but i keep thinking he is dead....every time i close my eyes i see him doing it again....

I've never experienced this! How scary! I'm sorry, Mama. What was the surgery for?

My son had ear surgery and I wasn't allowed in the operating room when they put him to sleep.

I've watched ds go under twice. It never gets easier but just be thankful they woke up and focus on their beautiful faces and the images will soon fade.

I have never heard of them letting parents in the OR. My dd had surgery and I was there until they took her back. Also the drugged her up pretty good before she even went back there. She was in a very good mood. Now coming out was the hard part. Though I have seen my dd have a grand mal seizure and I still have flash backs.

Most of the time they do not allow you back in the OR. The only reason I got to go back was because I worked at the hospital.
