Quoting SadeAyosmom:

as an English metric women i have to say your system confuses the crap out of me

It is more difficult to learn, as it isn't logical.

It would take about 10 years to get everything in less chaos.

It originated in the UK, actually. The US customary numbers system is derived from the British Imperial system.

It's odd, and hardly logical, but seemed to work for the time in which it was developed. Now, however, I believe that the US needs to start the gradual change to the more logical metric system. Our old system is outdated, as are many things here...

lmfao :D

But it's so strange, it makes sense to Americans because it's drilled into our heads from birth. I forget things sometimes but metric confuses me. I'm willing to learn, but I don't use it in every day life.

I think she just meant the switch itself.

You realize we'd have to replace ever mile marker on every road in the entire country...our street signs, all of our medical records/charts...etc.

Quoting Dinimon:

Actually the metric system is extremely easy.

Quoting 702girly:

Switching to metric would be a nightmare though.
