3 year old at a funeral?

My grandfather's funeral is Saturday. My family is divided as to whether bringing my 3 year old son is appropriate. I will say he's a super ball of energy these days. We don't have a sitter nor can we get one, as our usual sitter options will be at the funeral. My husband could stay home with him.

Appropriate or not? It is open casket.

IDK if it's appropriate or not...I took my daughter to my great-grandmother's funeral (closed casket) a few months ago (she wasn't quite 2 yet) and I'll say while all of the family was telling me she was fine and it was good to have her there I think it wasn't the best idea to take her. I was iffy on whether I was going to take her or not but my mom and grandpa encouraged me to bring her, I had to take her out of the service because she was playing and she had a meltdown at the cemetery. It's probably best if he does stay home with your DH.

I never took my kids to funerals just because I did not want them to disturb anyone else there.
