as of right now we dress ds in warm clothes put s hat on him and wrap him in a fleece blanket going to and from the car, and cover him with blanket while in the carseat. What do you do? (since coats are not safe in a carseat)

dd (4yo) is in her coat in her booster.  i've never heard of coats being harmful to kids.

are you talking about babies?

They wear a thin fleece jacket, and they have blankets for use in the car.

I don't have any kids in carseats but everyone in the car takes off their jacket, so that the seatbelt can be property aligned.

Well I live in FL now, so I dont really worry about it anymore. But I always took coats off before. Coats + carseats arent a good mix

no coat, just a really thick blanket. We warm up the car before hand too if we are at home.

No coats in car seats or boosters here. He puts it over himself like a blanket.

Bulky clothes are very unsafe in car seats. No, it's not just babies. Buckle your child's seat around bulky clothes. Do not change the tension of the harness, but remove the bulky clothes. Buckle the child back in the seat. That's how loose the harness is around your child in an accident.

I wouldn't have a four-year-old in a booster either. The child is much safer harnessed. My five-year-old will stay harnessed to the weight/height limits of the Britax Frontier.
