lately DS hasnt been listening. simple stuff- acting up in school, not taking care of his belongings, repeating himself multiple times, etc.

i usually do time outs and taking things away and i'll admit- i dont see it affecting him at all now.... but SO says i need to punish him- spank him, whoop him, whatever. i dont want to do that! if HE wanted to do it, fine- i'm okay with that... but i dont want to spank him.

what other methods can i do!?

Personally, I wouldn't spank. You can let the natural consequences kick in. Don't buy him new stuff when he destroys his belonging and ignore him when he repeats himself. You are probably doing those things though.

Is he getting enough rest? DD is much better behaved when she gets enough sleep which can be a struggle in our busy lives. But it makes a difference. Maybe bump up bedtime?
