Do you keep your husband's last name or do you change it to go back to your maiden name what is normal protocol?

I thought widows kept the husband's last name unless/untill they remarry.  The relationship wasn't ended, one person passed away.  I wouldn't chuck my husband's last name if it happened to me.

Widowers are men. Widows are women. =)

I know a few widows. All of them kept their husband's name. If they got remarried, they changed it to their new husband's name. I think it's just whatever you feel more comfortable with.

No biggie. It's kind of weird that there are different words for them. =)
