Me and my fiance went appartment looking today because our place now is so small our couch barly fits in the living room and just a 1 bed room so we share with our son. We found one that i fell in love with the second i walked in. It has a huge living room 2 bedrooms 1 1/2 bath. There is an upstairs. A dishwasher and water included. And its affordable but we cant get in because we are not married im 17 so i cant get married yet that place will be gone when i can get married. It just makes me so mad that they wont let us in just cuz we dont have a peice of paper saying we are married. I mean the appartment we are in now dont care why do they have to :(

That doesn't sound legal for them to discriminate like that.

They probably had bad experiences with a bunch of singles?

I think it depends on the state. In NC, they wouldn't let my sister move in with her male roommate unless they lied and said they were engaged. It's stupid, it should be illegal.

i didn't realize they could do that?

is it because you have to use both of your incomes to afford it?

I don't think it's because you are not married. It's because you are under 18, so if there is damage done or you don't pay, they can't sue you. If you were married, then your over 18 husband would be responsible.
