does your doctors office charge to have forms filled out?

We are military and use a civilian ped for our kids. Well we are moving and the doctor has to fill out some forms for our kids and they're charging to do it now. 25 per form. Its not billable to insurance..then records are 1.00 first page 25 cents each additional page..which for my kids will wind up being 100 or so.

No, that is craziness. How many pages do your kids need? 100 dollars is a lot of pages.

NEVERMIND.....uggh...I need more coffee. Read that wrong ,you are talking records, not just forms.

We never had to pay if one doctor asked for them from another. Once we had them copied for one child and there was a 25 dollar cap on it, regardless of the number of pages.

Ask the peds office to see if they can give you an exception or at least a discount for being military.

Well I have 4 kids and we've been with this doctor for 10 years. 2 of them have some medical issues and pretty thick records. Not to mention the specialists records who probably also charge.

Charging for medical records is normal. That is insanely cheap compared to what the hospitial I worked at charged. We never charged if it was for contunied care. Like what you are doing taking them to a different doctor. Have you explained to them that you are moving overseas and needs the records for their next doctor?

Nope not ours but we also don't use pediatricians! They charge if you are picking your records up yourself but its like $5 total but to fill out forms they don't charge anything.
