When USUALLY they really mean "You are a f*cking idiot"? (Or at least that's what I've personally learned)

Um, I don't think that is what it means.

Haha, I think it's a culture thing. It's still being "sweet", but really it's meant in an asshole way.

My grandmother said it all the time before she passed away (in Aug). She mainly said it to the kids when they were being cute, and to the adults when they were being stupid LOL I loved her for it :)

I never heard it until I moved to NC. People would say "Oh look at Jimmy. He's fourteen and can't tie his shoes" "Bless his heart"

I say it a lot.  When I saw a picture of the kids in connecticut in a line being led by their teacher away from the school I thought bless their hearts as I bawled feeling so bad for them :(

I say that whenever I see a mom in need or a mom that is overwhelmed or lost a family member.

I do use it instead of calling some one an idiot. I also say say "good for you" when someone has done something stupid and is bragging about it.

People usually say it when they feel sorry for someone.

Aww, poor guy.. bless his heart.
