We have no clue who your Aunt Sally is or the little boy on your sons soccer team. Why do you do this?! I have no clue who I am supposed to be praying for!

Because some people don't need to know a person to pray for their well-being

Pray for their health/safety...or just for God to bless them. It doesn't matter why they need prayers they're asking for someone to talk to God and ask that he bless them.

But I have no clue who 'them' even is? It's very annoying.

I hate reading those requests.  Not that I'm heartless, but many of the situations requesting prayers are NOTHING compared to situations others' are in.

I had a cousin on my facebook asking for prayers because she isn't doing what she wants to do for a living.  Let me stop praying for the Sandy Hook victims in order to appease your less-than-desirable occupation prayer request.

Because the more prayers people give, then God will hear it more :)

I take it you are some one who does this? Stop. It's annoying and it looks like you are just seeking attention and sympathy.

Then don't pray for them. You're saying that because you don't personally know someone you won't pray for them? Do you pray for families you don't know like the families of the shooting in Newtown? Or when tragedies happen? You're telling me you never pray for people you don't know personally?
