I have to.....that's no way to treat your 9 year old daughter!

Now I know I am not the worlds best mother, I make mistakes the rest of them but I do know there are some things you just do as a mother and there are right and wrong ways to treat your children!

Since I moved into my current home, I have been dubious of our neighbours opposite......the mum always seemed too friendly and the dad looked like he was constantly high on something. They have a little girl, she's 9, she goes to school with my daughters. She's not the nicest of children, my daughter has had a few run in's with her and I've had to separate them once or twice. However she is extremely quiet and timid around adults, especially my SO, he has never really had much interaction with her but you can see it in her eyes when he is near that she is wary.

A few times the mum has come knocking on my door at stupid o'clock to borrow some sugar or a few tea bags, came banging the door down one night begging my SO to help her, she was covered in bruises and her window was smashed in. My SO isn't allowed to get into trouble so we just bought her in, locked the door and called the police. It all got dealt with, the dad arrested and we didn't see him for a few weeks but then my SO saw him in town with a known crack dealer (we live in a rough part of town) so we knew he was back home with her.

I told my SO I wouldn't let her in the house anymore and would try to avoid her when I could as we didn't need nor want the trouble. All was well for a few weeks, no knocking at the door, nothing, then last week I got woken up at 6am by her daughter banging on my front door, dressed only in a nightie and flip flops asking if I had any milk she could have coz her mum wouldn't get dressed to go get some.....I bought her inside, she was shivering from the cold, gave her some milk and a blanket then sent her home.

On Sunday, she knockd again asking if I had some tobacco her dad could have as he didn't have any money, I had a few spare cigarettes so I took them over to the house myself. I didn't even get a thank you.

This morning as I was getting my kids ready for school I heard shouting and screaming coming from opposite, I looked out my window.I could see the little girl banging on her front door crying to be let in, I then saw her mum open the door scream in her face..'go and get me some or your not coming back in!!' then slam the door on the girls face,

I knew within a few minutes the girl would be at my door....there she was crying and cold, asking for some tea bags. I let her in and told her to sit in the living room with my girls...I then stormed over to her house with tea bags in tow and smashed my fist on the front door. When the mum answered it, I threw the tea bags at her and gave her a piece of my mind! How dare she treat her daughter like that? How dare she keep sending her 9 year old begging? I told her that her daughter would be walking to school with me and that I would be making the head of school aware of what I have been witnessing. She didn't even flinch, just gave me her daughters school bag, told me she couldn't care less what her daughter did!!!! Can you believe it?

I took her daughter to school with mine and did as I said I would, reported everything to the head of school, well she must have got on to Social Services (CPS) because the parents had them at the door this afternoon. I was on my way back from the school run and the mum came charging at me, screaming obscenities and abuse, the police calmed her down and escorted me to my door....I then gave them a message for her.....'I had to.....that's no way to treat your 9 year old daughter' and I just know this is not the end of it with this woman, I may have to move eventually but I did the right thing by that poor girl.

I would have called CPS myself! Thats insane. Good for you for taking the girl in, and not just shutting the door to their problems completely.

And the tea bags lol

I'm glad you not only stood up for the little girl, but followed up with the school.
