Christmas Tree Hazard!

I live in a small town and a family lost their home and the son passed away. The mom was able to save the daughter but they were both burnt. They believe the Christmas tree is what started the fire.. It's a very sad situation and a very sad time in our town.

Do you leave the tree on at night? I do not and never have we always unplug ours.

We leave the tree on 24/7.

There is no risk. No more than anything else being left plugged in (toaster for example).

If you don't go unplug everything in your house before bed, you're not minimizing your risk of an electrical fire.. unless you know for a fact that the outlet your tree is plugged into is faulty, which would be absolutely irresponsible and stupid.

I have a fake tree, so I'm pretty sure its flame retardant. There's a couple nights my fiance has forgot to turn the lights off. I always turn them off and make sure to do it now before I go to bed, if he doesn't go to sleep with me. No sense in having them at night or taking the risk of something happening.

Sad story you posted. :(

Always unplug it at night, and when we leave the house.

I turn mine off...because if we are asleep, that means no one is looking at it and it doesnt need to be on.

I also keep it watered so it doesnt dry out.

I have no idea if it was real or fake.

This.

Minus the watering.  ;)

Mine is on constantly unless we aren't home. It always stays watered and the lights don't get hot.
