Want to work out but have a question...

So my daughter has been visiting with her dad for a while, and I've become a couch potatoe since, aside from cooking and cleaning. I want to start excercising but for some reason I'm worried about having a heart attack or something if I just up and start excercising. So is there a way to ease into it? Or is it ok for me to just jump into it?

Start with a 20 minute workout... Stretch good before & after... Stay hydrating during & you'll do just fine.

Start with walking. Walk around the neighborhood, a school track, wherever you can. Walk a mile, then build up to two and then 3 and so on.

Are you mostly healthy?  I just jumped into it and I was fine.  I started taking karate and it was  intense.  I suggest if you start slow do it more often and then build up your stamina.

Try couch to 5k. It eases you onto running.

Is that a program or something I can look up?

You can just jump in BUT try doing easier less cardio exercises the first week. Just push ups, squats, dips, lunges, crunches, etc. I give my unconditioned clients  a 10-10 workout the first week. 10 exercises, 10 times each. Then we up the pace.
