I think its a fine idea. There are a lot of crazies that believe the end of the world is friday.

I think that is a fantastic idea. I was telling hubby and mil earlier....the only thing that is going to stop a crazy mad man with a gun is someone with a gun. My children's school had a threat made by a high school kid so the police are there until the end of the week.

I live there. Every school I've seen this week has had a deputy there at drop off time. I'd much rather they be protecting our kids and deterring crimes than setting speed traps. Seems like a better use of energy.

ORLANDO-- Orange County commissioners have approved a proposal by Mayor Teresa Jacobs to have an armed deputy at every school. The Commission voted Tuesday afternoon to appropriate up to $3 million in security funds to place deputies in front of each of the county's 78 elementary schools. There are already deputies assigned to each middle and high school in the county. In an interview Monday, Mayor Jacobs said she wanted a deputy at every elementary school by the time students return in January from Christmas break. The idea is to ensure their safety now, while county leaders figure out what to do long-term.
