How soon after birth can you get pregnant again?

My youngest is currently seven weeks, we want to have more kids and would like for our next child to not have a large age gap. We are thinking about not actively trying, but not not trying to get pregnant either, out of curiosity, how soon after birth can someone get pregnant again? Does it matter if someone breastfeeds or not?

I was pumping every couple hours with my oldest and got pregnant the first time I ovulated. They're 10 months apart :)

I heard that you should wait a year for your body to recover.

My best friends cousin, I believe it's her cousin, was pregnant at her six week PP checkup.

Yes you can. Although if you are breastfeeding around the clock, you are likely to not ovulate for awhile. We didnt use birth control for 6 months+ because I was feeding around the clock.

I had a very easy pregnancy, the only problem was keeping my weight up, but I've got it under control. I didn't really take any wear and tear.

ASAP. Breastfeeding can stall ovulation but it is not BC, you can still get pregnant....and this early in, if you BF full time, you could get pregnant and not know since you might not get a period for awhile. If you want to try, might want give yourself a home pregnancy test every four weeks or so if you do get pregnant you can judge when it might have happened.
