we were at the store, she was having issues with what she was buying and her daughter was getting fussy so she asked if i could walk with her.

So i am walking with her and she stops fussing. A lady smiled at her, and commented about my daughter being cute. I said thank you and she asked how old and i said 2 months and then the lady went on her way. My sil, was mad that i let that stranger think my niece was mine. I should have corrected her when she said my daughter was cute. I personal dont knew the conversation was going to last 5 mins and it didnt matter what a stranger thought.

so should i have corrected the stranger?

I don't see the big deal. Your SIL is mad for nothing.

I have gotten into the habit of doing it since I have my grandkids with me. Their mom is their mother and I am their Nanna

Did she really have a "fit" about it???

I would have corrected her, but I don't think it's a big deal that you didn't.

No I let everyone think my nieces or nephews are mine.  I never feel the need to correct a stranger, why does it matter?
