Why do so many think they want twins?

I have twins and I love them.

I have heard SO MANY people say (both IRL and here on CM) that they wish that they had twins. I don't get it. I have never in my life wanted twins. Given the choice, I would have had my children seperately and not as twins. Please hear my clearly, I'm not saying I don't love me children or don't want them, just would never have chosen twins.

For the millions of people who say they want twins, why? Do you just think it would be cute to dress them alike?

If you don't have twins, you have no idea what it is like first to be pregnant with twins, it is totally different from a single baby. And do you understand what having TWO newborns at the same time is like? Both needing to eat all the time, never letting you sleep. I could go on and on, but will stop here. I just don't get it.

And if one person so much as tries to imply that I hate my kids I'm going to stop reading the replies, because that is clearly not what I said.

I said I'd be happy with twins during my last pregnancy... simply because I could for SURE be done, lol.

I don't think two newborns would be that hard if I could stay at home all the time. The pregnancy might suck. I was really stressed with a 1 year old and a newborn. My 1 year old was always trying to grab the baby and stuff. I had to hide the baby! Lol

I don't have multiples & I'm thankful because I've often thought that it would be so incredibly difficult. I don't get it, either. I mean, kudos to you & every parent of multiples! Hats off! BUT ... it's not something I'd wish for.
